The prophecy of Jesus the CHRIST was written in 740 B.C. That is 740 years before JESUS was born. I can not tell you what is going to happen in the next few minutes let alone 700 years from now.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a CHILD is born, unto us a SON is given; and the government will be upon HIS shoulder. And HIS name will be called WONDERFUL, COUNSELOR, MIGHTY GOD, EVERLASTING FATHER, PRINCE OF PEACE.
Isaiah prophesies of the coming Messiah, our LORD JESUS THE CHRIST! It is one of the most quoted in the bible. Just think, JESUS coming to earth as a man! This is the greatest news ever. It is called the GOSPEL! ( GOOD NEWS!)
The Christmas story is found in several places in the Gospels, Matthew 1:18-25, 2:1-23, Luke 2:1-20. Please stop and read.
WHY DID JESUS COME, AND WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
In the BIBLE JESUS said plainly and numerously ” I have come……”. WE will explore the many reasons JESUS gave us for HIS coming, but first, let us look at him from our human prospectus.
JESUS lived in heaven with GOD THE FATHER. JESUS was with the FATHER before the beginning!
GENESIS 1:1, In the beginning, GOD created the heavens and the earth.
There is another creation story less read in Proverbs 8:22-36. ( Please stop and read) The key passage is Proverbs 8:30-31. “Then I was beside HIM as a master craftsman: and I was daily HIS delight, rejoicing always before HIM, rejoicing in HIS inhabited world. And my delight was with the sons of men. In Proverbs 8:22-26, we learn JESUS was! Before the beginning, before there was! It says I have been established from everlasting. In the book of Revelation 1:8, it says ” I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the End, says the LORD, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the ALMIGHTY.” In these days of turmoil and uncertainty, when there seems nothing you can believe or rely on! There is always JESUS! JESUS is always with you, standing right next to you with HIS arms outstretched ask you to come to HIM! You say I don’t believe that! When GOD created the earth, HE also created TRUTH, It does not matter if you believe the truth. The truth is the truth, by you saying I don’t believe that, it does not change the truth, it does not make it not so. JESUS said in John 14:6 ” I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the FATHER except through ME.” JESUS is our rock and salvation!
Genesis 1:26-27
Then GOD said, ” let US make man in OUR image, according to OUR likeness: let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So GOD created man in HIS own image; in the image of GOD HE created him; male and female HE created them.
We are so special, GOD created us in HIS image. If you ever wonder what does GOD look like, Look into a mirror, You were created in GOD’S image. For Jesus to leave heaven it had to be a very important reason. Remember, in heaven everything is perfect. You live with GOD the Father, no stress, no problems, no sickness, you never grow old, you never want for anything, you live in perfection. To leave heaven and all this and come to earth as a man is amazing, but WHY! Why would JESUS do this? The answer is so so profoundly simple!

1 John 4:19
WE love HIM because HE FIRST LOVED US.
Jesus’ love for us is greater than we could imagine or understand. When JESUS was in heaven, all of heaven and creation was under HIS authority. HE was above even the angels. When JESUS came to earth, HE gave up all this to become a man. HE came to earth in the pains of birth, JESUS had never had pain before, nor hunger, nor cold, nor heat, nor any of the struggles associated with being a man. We learned JESUS came because of love for us, but there is another reason.
John 6:38-40
“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my MY own will, but the will of HIM who sent ME. This is the will of the FATHER who sent ME, that of all HE has given ME I should lose nothing but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of him who sent ME, that everyone who sees the SON and believes in HIM may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
JESUS came to do the will of the FATHER, not to do his will.
Luke 19:10
For the SON of MAN has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
How was JESUS going to save us? It was GOD the FATHER’S plan of salvation. Remember HE came to do the will of the FATHER. JESUS knew before HE left heaven, HE was going to die a painful, humiliating death on the cross. HE was to be our sacrificial LAMB for our sins, but why would HE agree to this? Remember ” LOVE”
John 15:13
Greater LOVE has no one than this than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
JESUS laid down his life for yours and mine, out of LOVE for us. This kind of LOVE surpasses all our understanding. When JESUS was crucified at Calvary, HE paid our sin debt completely. It is paid in full forever. To receive your salvation, that JESUS bought and paid for, ACCEPT JESUS THE CHRIST FOR WHAT HE DONE FOR YOU AT CALVARY, BELIEVE IN HIM, REPENT OF YOUR SINS! Then you will know the true joy of CHRISTMAS, And why JESUS is the reason for the season!
John 3:16
For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life.
The greatest Christmas gift of all is, JESUS CHRIST from GOD the FATHER, to all of us on earth!
